The CoTTG members are actively engaged in promoting an understanding of traditional thatch and its conservation. It aims to:
- promote the identification of buildings with surviving historic thatch
- disseminate information on the conservation of traditional thatch
- promote the use of traditional and regional thatching materials and techniques
- improve the indigenous production of appropriate thatching materials
CoTTG meet formally twice a year at locations in England and Wales.
With external funding, CoTTG engages in research projects to understand and learn about the performance of traditional thatching materials and techniques.
