Aims & Objectives

The CoTTG members are actively engaged in promoting an understanding of traditional thatch and its conservation. It aims to:

  • promote the identification of buildings with surviving historic thatch
  • disseminate information on the conservation of traditional thatch
  • promote the use of traditional and regional thatching materials and techniques
  • improve the indigenous production of appropriate thatching materials

CoTTG meet formally twice a year at locations in England and Wales.

With external funding, CoTTG engages in research projects to understand and learn about the performance of traditional thatching materials and techniques.
